What is Faculty
Development?
|
Why do we have it?
|
- Mentoring and career planning
- Encouraging and assisting faculty to pursue scholarly activities
- Providing resources for faculty
- Providing services to enhance skills of faculty, both in teaching and in
their area of expertise
- Organizing workshops and seminars in skills in such as teaching, writing,
presentation, research, leadership
- Participating in studies on faculty development
- Serving as a clearinghouse for faculty interests and activities
- Providing specific skills for educators - in collaboration with
the
Office of Medical Education, Faculty Development is an
integral part of this effort, with extensive educational programs geared to
improve faculty skills specifically in teaching and curriculum management
- Collaborating with the Office of
Continuing Medical
Education to provide programs relevant to faculty
|
Faculty are
expected to develop Teaching, Research and Clinical Skills, as well as

be done in isolation. Many of these skills overlap all specialties, and can best
be developed within a structured, organized program |
