The
Creighton Head Start Collaboration Program was created in March
2008 by medical student, Juliana Gazallo, to supplement the well being
of children’s health. This program allows
Creighton medical students to partner up with Head Start and aid in the
medical screening of young children. The medical screening consists of
determining the height and weight of the children as well as checking
their vision and blood pressure.
In addition, medical students provide substantial information to parents
about keeping their children nourished and healthy. Among the topics of
discussion are nutrition and diet, hygiene, and exercise. The goal of
this program is to promote healthy mental and physical well being,
growth, and development of underprivileged children for years to come.
