Student Program Mission Statement

To assure that students are well trained in the fundamentals of surgery (including patient assessment and peri-operative care), learning will occur in a supportive yet academically challenging environment.  Students will learn effective use of language, critical thinking skills and the importance of precise written and verbal communication.  Through interaction with hospital staff, patients, and families as well as surgical faculty and residents, students will incorporate the fundamentals of compassionate care.
