Dr. Townley is a board certified specialist in Internal Medicine and Allergy and Immunology. Currently, he is professor in the Departments of Medicine and Microbiology and Immunology at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his medical degree from the Creighton University School of Medicine and was a resident in Internal Medicine at Boston City Hospital and a senior fellow in Medicine and Allergy at the Lahey Clinic in Boston, Massachusetts. 

A prolific writer, Dr. Townley has more than 300 publications to his credit including abstracts, journal articles, chapters and three co-authored textbooks entitled Airway Smooth Muscle: Receptors Modulation and Response, Inflammatory Cells and Mediators in Bronchial Asthma, and Immunopharmacology of Allergic Diseases. His works have appeared in prestigious scientific journals such as the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, JAMA, Chest, the British Medical Journal, and the International Archives of Allergy and Applied Immunology. Of Dr. Townley’s more than 200 abstracts, many were presented nationally at meetings of professional societies such as the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology and internationally for such organizations as the European Society of Pneumology and the International Congress of Internal Medicine.  A fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, the American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Townley is also a member of the American Federation of Clinical Research and the American Thoracic Society. In addition, he is past president of the Nebraska Thoracic Society and past member of the Presidential Task Force for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to implement and set priorities of the Kennedy Rogers bill for heart, lung, and blood research. Dr. Townley is the recipient of the 1998 American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Distinguished Clinician Award.
