Thank you for considering the combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics program at Creighton University.  All of us here believe we have a program that will rate highly among those you are bearing in mind.  Creighton Med/Peds has trained exceptional physicians for over a decade.  The four-year training program adheres to the guidelines provided by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.  Our department is continuously updating our curriculum to meet new guidelines, to respond to resident suggestions, and to utilize state of the art training techniques.

Combined training in internal medicine and pediatrics is a valuable pathway for those interested in primary care in both urban and rural areas.  Graduates of our program have been able to find opportunities in both primary care and subspecialty training.  We are proud to welcome many applicants from across the United States.  If interest in the program continues, expansion may be considered in the future.

Our Mission Statement

The Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency at Creighton University will be a premier training program that graduates physicians with excellent academic and clinical skills who have developed compassion for the human community and who are advocates for social justice.  We will accomplish this objective within the mission and goals set forth by the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Creighton University Medical Center.

I am particularly excited about the future of our program and would like to highlight some of our goals that help us fulfill the mission statement above.  Our Med/Peds residency program will:
  • Train residents to function competently and independently as Internist and Pediatrician in the context of a private medical practice.

  • Deliver superior clinical service to adult medical and pediatric patients in a timely and respectful manner.

  • Expose residents to a variety of clinical learning experiences that represent symptomatic and demographic diversity.

  • Foster the personal and professional growth of all Med/Peds residents as well as the medical students who learn from them.

  • Build upon itself as a viable way to train residents who will be qualified to serve multiple roles in the always-changing field of medicine.

We welcome the opportunity to evaluate the applications of all interested medical students and feel we offer an excellent training program in a delightful place to live.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Theresa A. Townley, MD, MPH
