"Adam Duke graduated Cum Laude from Creighton University in 2003 with a Spanish Major, Justice and Peace Studies co-major, and was also in the Honors Program. He came to Creighton University for his undergraduate studies because of the Jesuit emphasis on being a ""person for others"". While there he participated in numerous volunteer experiences, the most important to him being the semester that he spent attending school and volunteering in a children's hospital burn unit in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The experience taught him much about the suffering of others, but more importantly about the indomitable beauty of the human spirit, and only served to fortify his decision to enter into medicine. Adam chose Creighton University School of Medicine because it is built on the same Jesuit ideals as his undergraduate education; it is here that one can meld the central arenas of academia and altruism in order to become both a competent and a compassionate physician."
