Dominic Gomez-Leonardelli
Growing up, Dominic learned early from his parents that the life and talents that we are given must be put to the service of others.  For many years, Dominic helped his mother deliver meals to senior citizens who were unable to cook for themselves.  When he was old enough to drive he received his own route and delivered meals each Sunday for 2 years until he went away to college. While in college he was given an opportunity to serve as a tutor for disadvantaged students in an Oakland elementary school. Through the course of his 4 years as a Saturday school tutor he received much more than he gave. While in the Navy Dominic volunteered some of his free time with Special Olympics working as an assitant coach and a referee for sporting events.  Dominic says that he see medicine 'As yet another opportunity to put my talents and my time to good use for the benefit of others.'  He also adds, 'I look forward to the day when I can reflect on the day's work, recount the intellectual challenge presented and hopefully realize some contribution made to another person's life.'  Dominic choose Crieghton as the place to build this future because they are strongly committed to service, possess an impressive reputation for producing exceptional clinicians and truly foster a sense of community among students and faculty.
