Heather is from Sheridan, Wyoming. She went to the University of Wyoming and majored in Zoology and Physiology. She was a member of the honors program, did research in a neuroscience lab, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and did intramural volleyball. In addition, she was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies. She chose Creighton because of the warm, inviting atmosphere, the school's academic excellence, and the newly remodeled, student friendly facilities. She decided to be a doctor because of the intellectual challenge and the opportunities for humanitarian involvement.
