CUMSOGS is a student organization aimed at getting students interested in OB-GYN along with assisting them with applying to residencies and giving advice before the interview season starts. The organization is open to all medical students. During the year various meetings are held: - Introduction meeting at the beginning of the clinical year. One of the attendings talks about the specialty. - Our September meeting is an annual faculty appreciation dinner held at one of the local restaurants. Attendings and residents share advice on what they look for in a resident. - The first year residents are invited to our October meeting to give insight on interviews and scheduling for the fourth year of medical school. - The other large meeting that CUMSOGS has is after match day in March. We meet at the Director's house and the outgoing fourth years share their experiences with interviewing, match day, and the programs they applied to. This is when the new officers are elected also. For the first time ever the group is involved with the residents' journal club. We meet with them on their designated night to discuss two journal articles that were selected for that month. This has been a great experience for the medical students to read published articles as well as experience what we will be doing as residents.
