Associate Chair for Medical Education
The Associate Chair for Medical Education establishes and monitors the implementation of department goals in undergraduate and graduate medical education. These activities include filling the Internal Medicine Residency Program through the NRMP; expanding ambulatory care curricula; establishing curricula on cost effective care; expanding curriculum in geriatrics; developing curriculum in clinical epidemiology, research training, quality improvement, and managed care for each of the Internal Medicine specialties and subspecialties. Other activities include establishing faculty development/fellowship programs in general internal medicine, developing new clinical education sites for inpatient training, and establishing a mechanism for explicitly supporting and rewarding clinical faculty for their educational efforts. The Associate Chair also oversees new educational initiatives for undergraduate and graduate programs.
