Policy:     

Effective Fiscal Year 2002/2003 the following policy will be used to determine faculty base salaries:

Procedures:

   I.        Tenure Track Clinical Faculty: 

a.     Faculty base salaries will be calculated at 60% of the AAMC median for General Internal Medicine Faculty by academic rank.  Faculty currently above the 60% AAMC median level will not receive base increases until the level surpasses their current base.  All compensation received for Veteran’s Administration assigned eighths will be applied towards the Creighton University base.

b.     Non-Clinical Faculty:  Faculty base salaries will be calculated at 60% of the AAMC median for Basic Science Faculty by academic rank.  Faculty currently above the 60% AAMC median level will not receive base increases until the level surpasses their current base.

 II.        Non-Tenure Track Faculty:  Faculty base salaries may vary from the calculation of 60% of the AAMC median by academic rank as justified by the Department Chair and respective Division Chief.  Non-Tenure Track Faculty base salaries will not be higher than that of Tenure Track Faculty.

III.        Divisions with faculty below the calculated base for their academic rank, will have the option of phasing them in over a three year period.  The three-year period must be allocated in equal amounts.

The AAMC faculty salary median will be reviewed annually to determine if any significant economic inflation has occurred.  At such time that a significant inflation does occur, faculty base salaries will be adjusted accordingly at the beginning of the next fiscal year.
