Policy:   

Department non-medical faculty and managers will be assigned parking by the Department Administrator.

Procedures:

1.      The criteria weight factors listed below are used to determine employee-parking allocations.  Employees are evaluated for their total weight factor.  The lots are assigned in the following order:  Lot 3-2, Lot 3-1, Lot 4, Lot 5, Lot 7, and Lot 9.

2.      In the case where more than one employee was eligible for a specific lot but there were not adequate parking spaces, seniority by the university employment date serves as the deciding factor.

3.      The only consideration given for medical necessity will be if an employee has a handicapped-parking sticker.  They will be issued a special parking permit through hospital Security.

4.      The weight factors for each employee are entered into a database to ensure that if an employee’s status changes, new positions are created, or an employee terminates, parking allocations can be reviewed in a fair and efficient manner.  It will be the responsibility of the employee’s supervisor to report any employment status changes to the Department Administration so the database can be updated.

5.      As employees terminate, assignments will be reviewed to determine if anyone is eligible to move up in lot assignments.  Upon termination, parking access cards are to be returned to the Department Administration for reassignment.
