Goals for 2004-2005
1.
Establish mechanism to ensure
appropriate ongoing support for research infrastructure. 2.
Recruit more investigators into the
Department of Medicine. 3.
Increase the involvement of
department investigators in interdisciplinary (cross-division and
cross-department) scholarship. 4.
Broaden substantive research
expertise in the department into additional divisions. 5.
Develop and implement airway center
to enhance collaborative research program development in respiratory system
diseases. 6.
Expand research on pharmacotherapy. 7.
Develop databases for expanded
clinical epidemiology research (e.g. in Cardiology and General Internal
Medicine). 8.
Enhance research resources, research
mentoring and research faculty development for junior tenure track
faculty. 9.
Enhance involvement of subspecialty
fellows in substantive research. Research Objectives

Implement program to expand
availability of Biostatistical consulting resources throughout the department. R2.
Identify Research Mentors: ·
Utilize
these individuals to interview visiting faculty candidates with anticipated
research activities. ·
Pair
these individuals to new faculty engaged in research activities for one-on-one
help. R3.
Reinstitute a research development
program consistent with the recommendations of the School’s Research
