"This is a program where residents have close interaction with faculty and ample time to learn on their own."

Henry Sakowski, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine

One of the strengths of this program is the didactic teaching program. All of the services and the nursing staff are aware of the emphasis we place on these programs and try to ensure that the residents are free from clinical activities at this time. Residents are required to attend 60% of the department conferences. The didactic program includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  1. Grand Rounds
  2. Clinical Pathology Case Conference
  3. Acute Care Core Curriculum
  4. Research Design & Statistical Conferences
  5. Medical Legal Series
  6. Clinical Ethics Series
  7. Journal Club
  8. Ambulatory Case Conference
  9. Clinical Pharmacology
  10. Harrison Club
  11. Oncology Conference
  12. Specific Subspecialty Conferences
  13. Professor Rounds
  14. Managed Care Curriculum
  15. Medicare Compliance Conference
  16. Impaired Physician Conference
  17. Educational Leave of seven days each year for all senior residents with an educational stipend in the third year of the program.
