The Cardiac Center of Creighton University Medical Center and the local
chapter of the American Heart Association is sponsoring the second annual
city-wide “Girls’ Night Out,” a fund-raiser designed to increase awareness
about women and heart disease. Women, and the men who care about them, are
encouraged to gather at participating restaurants and movie theaters
throughout the Omaha area on Thursday, February 3, from 5 to 10 p.m. A
portion of the profits from “Girls Night Out” will go directly to the Omaha
chapter of the American Heart Association. A list of businesses
participating in the event is listed on The Cardiac Center website at
http://thecardiaccenter.creighton.edu. Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in women; it kills 10 times more women than breast cancer. Unfortunately, most women are not aware of these facts and do not make the connection between the risk factors of heart disease and their personal health. “Girls’ Night Out” is designed to educate women about the risk factors responsible for heart disease while raising money for the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign. The Cardiac Center of Creighton University Medical Center provides referring physicians, healthcare professionals, patients and their families with the opportunity to utilize the area’s only freestanding facility totally dedicated to cardiovascular research and education, risk modification, diagnosis and treatment. The Cardiac Center, founded in 1961, employs a staff of more than 240 cardiologists, nurses, pharmacists, exercise specialists and health care professionals. |
