Devendra K. Agrawal, Ph.D has accepted an invitation by the Center for
Scientific Review (CSR) to become a member of the Lung Cellular, Molecular
and Immunobiology Study Section. The CSR, a division of the National
Institutes of Health (NIH), organizes the peer review groups that evaluate
the majority of grant applications submitted to the NIH.
Members of the Lung Cellular, Molecular and Immunobiology Study Section
evaluate grant applications related to diseases of the lung, including
asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis.
Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated competence and
achievement in their scientific discipline. Agrawal, Creighton professor of
biomedical science, medical microbiology and immunology and medicine, will
begin his four-year term on July 1, 2005. He is a Fellow of the American
Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (FAAAAI), the American Heart
Association (FAHA) and a Fellow of Council Arterioscelerosis, Thrombosis and
Vascular Biology.
"Service on a study section requires mature judgment and objectivity as well
as the ability to work effectively in a group, qualities we believe Dr.
Agrawal will bring to this important task," said Brent Stanfield, Ph.D.,
acting director of the Center for Scientific Review. |
