Sade Kosoko-Lasaki M.D., M.S.P.H., has been named a
recipient of the 4th Annual Dr. Stan Truhlsen Award by Prevent Blindness
Nebraska. Dr. Kosoko-Lasaki is associate professor of Ophthalmology, and
Preventive Medicine and Public Health and is also associate vice president
for Health Sciences, Multicultural and Community Affairs at Creighton
University Medical Center. The Truhlsen award is given to an individual who
works for medical advancements in saving or restoring vision.
Dr. Kosoko-Lasaki has researched glaucoma and Vitamin A deficiency in the
Caribbean, West Africa, and Asia. She is actively involved in many
organizations including the American Academy of Research in Vision and
Ophthalmology and the Nebraska Educational Alliance for Public Health
Impact. Dr. Kosoko-Lasaki joined Creighton University in 2000, where she
serves on the Minority Student Recruitment and Admissions Committee and the
Medical School Admissions Committee.
“This is the fourth year we have presented this award, and we are very
pleased to present it to Dr. Sade Kosoko-Lasaki this year for helping us
with our mission of preserving sight and preventing blindness,” said Kim
