Karen Rafferty, R.D., senior research dietitian at Creighton University's Osteoporosis Research Center, has received the Charles A. Ragus Award for the Best Scientific Paper of the year from the Journal of the American College of Nutrition (JACN). The recognition comes with a $3,000 award, and is sponsored by AdvoCare, International.

Her winning paper, entitled "Potassium Intake and the Calcium Economy," was published in the Journal’s April issue. Rafferty will receive the award at the American College of Nutrition’s annual meeting in September in Charleston, S.C.

The American College of Nutrition is a professional organization established to promote scientific endeavor in the field of nutritional sciences. The Journal is published bimonthly by the organization.
