The Creighton Heart Education Center at the Cardiac Center of Creighton University Medical Center is hosting a health fair to promote heart health in the Omaha community. Because the African American community experiences higher heart disease mortality rates and risk factors, the health fair will focus on cardiovascular disease awareness and prevention.

The health fair is free, with refreshments, raffles and prizes. The event is sponsored by the Creighton Heart Education Center, The Cardiac Center of Creighton University Medical Center, Creighton University Medical Center, and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.

Street parking is available, as well as the parking lot at 31st and Burt streets.

WHO: Free and open to the public. All ages welcome.

WHAT: Creighton Heart Education Center Health Fair. Screenings include: cholesterol, blood pressure, blood glucose, cardiac risk assessment.

WHERE: The Cardiac Center of Creighton University Medical Center, 30th & Webster, across 30th Street to the west of Creighton University Medical Center.

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 13, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
