Robert R. Recker, M.D., professor of medicine at Creighton University Medical Center, director of Creightonıs Osteoporosis Research Center and chief of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Creightonıs School of Medicine, was recently selected by the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) to receive the Frederic C. Bartter Award.   Named for one of the finest scientists and clinical investigators in medicine, the award is given to a member of ASMBR in recognition of outstanding clinical investigation in disorders of bone and mineral metabolism.

Dr. Recker is an endocrinologist with a long history of clinical research in osteoporosis.  He is past president of ASMBR and a member of the Orthopedic Research Society.

He is a master and past governor in the American College of Physicians, and Fellow in the American College of Endocrinology. He serves on the editorial boards of several medical journals, including the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research.
